Course Dates and Prices
At the moment I do not have any dates in the diary for 2019, as I am concentrating on painting and finishing my book. I will be teaching New Pastel School Courses with Nel Whatmore in 2019, to look at those please go to www.thenewpastelschool.co.uk
Please let me know if you may be interested in any of these courses in the future, as I may have a small selection of courses available at my studio later in 2019….
PASTEL TECHNIQUES FOUNDATION DAY
A course focusing on different pastel techniques. Rebecca demonstrates with reference to other artists’ work and students can explore and experiment with different ways to use this versatile medium. Excellent for beginners to pastels, or for artists used to working in other media.
LANDSCAPES IN PASTEL 1, LIGHT AND ATMOSPHERE
This is a great course to start looking at using pastels for landscape painting, and how to capture light and atmosphere. It includes advice about colour mixing with pastels.
LANDSCAPES IN PASTEL 2, FEATURES AND FORMS
A chance to look more closely at trees, rocks, water, and other natural forms and features of the landscapes.
PORTRAITS IN PASTEL 1
Structure and features with a model for part of the day. An introduction to capturing the character, individuality, and structure of portraits in the morning, looking at the head from different angles, and how to draw features. Includes demonstrations and examples from Rebecca’s and other artists work.
PORTRAITS IN PASTEL 2
Skin tones and how to use colour. Looking at the different ways we can use and mix colours to render the subtle changes in hues of skin tones and hair. From gentle tones to being more creative and vibrant, and how we can create mood and atmosphere. Includes demonstrations and examples from Rebecca’s and other artists work. There is no model on this day.
FIGURES IN PASTEL
Capturing energy and movement I have introduced this course after having so much interest in the life and energy of my paintings. Looking at proportions and body language, taking or choosing the best photographic reference, telling a story and putting the figure in context.
ANIMALS IN PASTEL
Looking at animals, understanding the importance of the simple structure of creatures, and learning techniques to capture fur, feathers or scales. Let me know if you are particularly interested in horses.
DEVELOP YOUR PASTEL SKILLS, FIND YOUR STYLE
This course is in response to the many requests by people who have been on other courses, and want to keep learning how to develop their work and their own style, but looking at subject matter of their own choice. I will demonstrate and show examples where appropriate.
TAILOR MADE DAYS
If there are a group of 4 or 5 of you, you can arrange a day to suit yourselves, either with aspecific theme, or for people to develop their skills with the subject matter to suit each one.
Let me know if you would be interested in any of these courses in the future.
